I have a friend who lives in Hungary. He was very much part of the NYC culture world, but got sick of the woke tyranny and left. He is not a conservative person at all. And he loves living in Budapest. He told me a few days ago that all his NYC friends get furious with him about living in Hungary. Then he showed me how young people live in Hungary and how optimistic they feel about their future careers and raising their kids. Orban has done for young people what Mamdani can only promise. Because Orban protected his people from mass immigration take over. Housing is genuinely affordable there. Young people are given help from the government when they start families. But New Yorkers tell my friend he’s supporting fascism. He just laughs.
My husband spent most of his career in Europe, mainly Germany, and is in close contact with good friends there. Most do not like Trump at all. However, he has a couple of friends who were active in the German government that tell him the world should be very appreciative of all the great things Trump is doing.
